Sleeps 10 + cot
4 bedrooms (one double with shower)
Easy access for wheelchair users
Miller’s cottage was the milking parlour when Cwmiar was a commercial dairy. When we took off the tin roof we discovered an ancient heather-thatched roof underneath. Unfortunately this disintegrated into dust. We would have liked to keep the old A frames, but decided it was impractical as people would have to climb over them to get into bed! The old stone barn is now a relaxing and comfortable cottage with all modern conveniences yet it retains its olde worlde charm and atmosphere.
The front door opens into an entrance lobby containing a door to the downstairs twin bedroom, stairs and a door to the living area. The spacious sitting room has a wood burning stove, tv /dvd player and dining area. Through an archway is the kitchen with all mod cons including fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, and family-size gas cooker.
The bathroom is also on the ground floor. It includes a toilet, hand basin and bath with electric shower over and is accessible to wheelchair users. There is also a washer/dryer.
On the back lawn there is a barbeque and garden furniture. Sit and enjoy your morning coffee and read the papers whilst the children play in the playground – close enough to keep an eye on them, but not near enough to be noisy!
Miller’s Cottage Bedrooms
The downstairs bedroom has two single beds and is accessible by wheelchair users. There is step-free access to the whole of the ground floor.
Upstairs there are two double bedrooms. One has a king-size bed and the other has a shower in the room. The bed-heads and bedside units were hand made from wood cut from our own trees that were the victims of a severe storm some years ago. The fourth bedroom has two sets of adult size bunk beds. The bedrooms have a wardrobe and dressing table.
There is also an upstairs toilet with hand-basin (hot and cold).
